Shamrock/A CD SHAM 1046-2 |
Listen to: (Real Player 340K) |
This recording took a while to take shape and it developed in several stages. The initial inspiration for this project was a record named 'Zanzibar', which my good old friend, harpist Rüdiger Oppermann gave me about five years ago. It was composed, played and produced by the French guitarist Nguyên Lê, who I had never heard of until then. I felt a lot of empathy with him musically and finally got a chance to meet him in person, right after the release of our first CD 'New Directions' (Nabel). Nguyên liked the idea of performing and recording with my band. After a few months, we performed together at the 'Diagonale' - Festival in Magdeburg, Germany (with a beautiful stage setting by my friend, Austrian stage designer Christine Tritthart), went into the recording studio the next day - and hit. After six hours we were done and moved on. Heinrich von Kalnein |
